Founder and Artistic Director

Originally from England, Beth trained in Musical theater and received her Honors award from London College of Music for Musical Theater. Beth worked as an actress and Musical theater performer in London, before moving to New York in 2006.

Beth has worked extensively in Theater, television and film both in the U.K and America. She is a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild and Actors Equity.

Beth lives in Brooklyn Heights with her husband, 5 year old son, 2 year old daughter, and their little dog- Barney.


Dance Teacher

Brian has been with The Stage School since 2011. National Tours include: THE BOOK OF MORMON (Elder McKinley), 9 TO 5 & Disney’s HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL. Regional Theater's throughout the country: SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS, The Who’s TOMMY, WEST SIDE STORY, WHITE CHRISTMAS (Twice), HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2, 42ND STREET, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST as well as one cruise ship. He loves sharing his knowledge of the theatre, encouraging his students to seek the joy of their own experience.


Theater Bugs Teacher

Originally from Seattle, Megan has been a teaching artist since she was in high school and has taught kids ages 2-18. Megan holds a BFA in Acting and Original Works from Cornish College of the Arts MFA in Acting from the American Repertory Theatre/Moscow Art Theatre Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University. While in Seattle she worked with internationally recognized Seattle Children's Theatre, a highlight being in the American Premiere of Glittra's Mission with the Dutch company, Speeltheatre Holland. Megan has toured schools throughout Washington State with Seattle Shakespeare Company and Seattle Opera. Since moving to New York, Megan has worked with Soho Rep Lab, Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Lark, Primary Stages, The Guggenheim, The Management, Studio 42, At Hand, Bushwick Starr, Little Lord, among others. She is a company member of Ensemble Studio Theatre and The Management, and can be seen in the web series Me U.


Drama Teacher

Sarah has taught drama, dance and singing in public and private schools and drama schools in England and the US for over 10 years.  As a performer she has worked extensively in the West End, Broadway, TV and Film, including Baby in ‘Dirty Dancing’ in London and the hit Broadway show ‘One Man Two Guvnors’ starring James Corden.  She is also a experienced children’s entertainer for birthday parties and events.



Theater Bugs Teacher

Nadia feels honored to be a part of the Stage family. Teaching and working with children brings her so much joy, especially when it is performance/arts based!  After receiving her BFA in Musical Theater from Montclair State University, Nadia has continued to travel nationwide and worldwide with several Broadway tours and regional productions. National/International Tours include:  Legally Blonde, SHREK (US and Asia) Catch Me If You Can, and Bring it On! (US and Tokyo). She has also worked on various regional productions, most recently playing Katherine Plumber in Newsies at the Pioneer Theater Co. in Salt Lake City.  She is so excited to share her experiences and love for theater, dance, and singing with the children at the Stage!

Calvin Leon Smith


Drama Teacher

Originally from Memphis, TN, Calvin trained at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he received his BA in Theatre, The Juilliard School where he received his MFA in Acting as well as the Actors Theatre of Louisville Acting Apprenticeship and The British American Drama Academy, a joint program with Oxford and the Yale School of Drama. He runs his own private coaching practice of 6 years and has taught middle through high school acting with StArt Osceola in Kissimmee, FL,  performance with the Actors Theatre of Louisville Education department, and assisted Shakespeare workshops with the Lincoln Center Theatre. Calvin is extremely excited to be apart of the Stage Theater School Family!

Michael Harren


Musical Director

Brooklyn-based pianist, composer and performer Michael Harren has been teaching and music directing for over 20 years, and working with The Stage School since 2010. He is artist-in-residence at Tamerlaine Farm Animal Sanctuarywhere he created the solo multi-media theater pieceThe Animal Show, which premiered in New York City in 2016 and continues to be performed in venues throughout the United States.

Michael Harren has toured as pianist with Sandra Bernhard, is the musical director for Cabaret for a Cause, and has performed at Dixon Place, (le) poisson rouge, Joe’s Pub, Judson Memorial Church, Manhattan Theater Source, The Duplex, Don’t Tell Mama, The Laurie Beechman Theater as well as numerous venues around the country. Michael is a Moogfestartist who presented No Permission Needed: Createwith Senator Jaizat Moogfest 2017.

Drama and Improv

Jasminn Johnson is an actor, writer and teaching artist based in New York City. She is a graduate of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities and The Juilliard School’s Drama Division. As an actor, she works heavily in new play development as well as taking on classic works and was most recently featured in Shakespeare on the Sound’s Twelfth Night as Viola. She is a resident teaching artist at Leap, where she teaches The August Wilson Monologue Competition as well as the Leap On Stage, two of Leap’s signature programs. Jasminn is most interested in creating and collaborating with other artists to create new theatrical work. She is a founding member of the Promptus Collective and writes sketch comedy, parody, plays, and other short works. And she’s a massive Beyoncé fan. Jasminn is thrilled to be a part of The Stage School this year! 



Drama Teacher

Leah Hofmann, originally from St. Louis, MO, has lived in New York City for over ten years, working as an actor, puppeteer, associate choreographer, puppet builder, and Etch A Sketch artist. Her favorite performing credits include War Horse, Big Fish, and Something Rotten! on Broadway, The Merry Widow at the Metropolitan Opera, The Beast in the Jungle at Vineyard Theatre, and on national tours such as Young Frankenstein, Something Rotten! and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular as a Radio City Rockette. Her associate choreography credits include Legally Blonde (Gateway Playhouse), Life After (Old Globe Theatre), and the upcoming Kung Fu Panda Spectacular at the Venetian Theater in Macau.



Dance Teacher

Brittany Marcin Maschmeyer  has performed on Broadway in Bullets Over Broadway, Anything Goes, Follies, and Curtains as well as toured the US and Canada with Young Frankenstein, Dr. Dolittle, and The Will Rogers Follies in addition to numerous regional productions. She was most recently seen in the off- Broadway production of “The Beast in the Jungle” and the 25th anniversary concert of “Crazy For You” at Lincoln Center. For 5 years, Brittany performed as a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall. Her television credits include the 61st Annual Tony Awards,  “A Very Murray Christmas” on Netflix and numerous Rockette appearances.

Brittany loves teaching and helping the next generation of performers reach their fullest artistic potential.

Singing Teacher

Kate Theis is a teaching artist based here in Brooklyn Heights. She earned a MM in Vocal Performance and Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from NYU, and hold undergraduate degrees in Music and Spanish. In addition to working with groups as a music director, she teaches private voice and piano lessons to students of all ages. She maintains a musical blog,, and performs regularly as well, mostly recently singing as a soloist at St. Patrick's Cathedral. She is thrilled to be working with the amazing kids and staff here at The Stage. 

Melissa Becraft


Dance Teacher

Originally from Greenville, SC, Melissa is a versatile performer trained in ballet, jazz, theater, contemporary, hip hop, and tap. She moved to New York City when she was 18 years of age and completed The Professional Semester at Broadway Dance Center to jump start her career as a professional dancer. Melissa embraced the work in New York City with a wide spectrum of jobs from dancing for big brands like Refinery29 and Opening Ceremony to performing in theaters such as Alvin Ailey and The Gunter Theater. She is currently a dancer for the NBA Brooklyn Nets and is represented by Bloc Talent Agency. Melissa loves to share her passion for dance and believes training hard in class is the best way to prepare for the industry. 


Theater Bugs and Dance

Gabi received her BFA from Pace University majoring in Musical Theatre with a minor in Commercial Dance. In school she started Student Run Classes and worked in Chinatown with Baayork Lee's NAAP teaching elementary schoolers. As a performer she has danced with Jimmy Fallon and Sam Rockwell on SNL, performed in industrials for Target, Discovery Channel and Robin Hood Foundation, and has worked regionally at The Muny, Arena Stage, and Finger Lakes Musical Theater Festival!  Gabi is thrilled to join The Stage Family and share her love for theatre! 

Darby Fulcher


Theater Bugs

Darby Fulcher is a Texas native who now calls New York City home. She is a graduate of Pace School of the Performing Arts, where she received a degree in Commercial Dance with a concentration in Pedagogy. 


For over six years, Darby has taught dance and theater to kids and adults of all ages at dance studios, childcare facilities, and private schools in New York and New Jersey. She has also recently begun teaching barre fitness classes. 


As a performer, Darby has danced on a Holland America Line cruise ship, performed in New York City at the Joyce Theater, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and the Schimmel Center, and is currently part of the Brooklyn based contemporary company Bloodline Dance Theatre. 


Musical Director

A New York-based music director, accompanist, and vocal coach, Trevor has worked at regional houses across the east coast in many different musical capacities. Off-Broadway: Whiskey Pants (Music Director, HERE Arts). Tours/Int'l: Elf Nat'l Tour (Associate Conductor), Anything Goes Nat'l Tour (Associate Conductor), Celebrity Cruises (Vocal Director). Regional: Catch Me If You Can (Philly Premiere, Music Director/Conductor, Eagle Theater), Irving Berlin's White Chistmas (Ogunquit Playhouse, Associate MD), The Drowsy Chaperone (MD/Cond, Northern Stage), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (MD/Cond, New London Barn); Mame with Loretta Switt (MD/Cond, Forestburgh Playhouse).  Trevor has worked at the Walnut Street Theatre, the Arden Theatre Co, Feinstein's/54 Below, the Kimmel Center, FringeNYC, Musical Theatre Factory, AMTA, NYU Tisch, and many others.  He holds a BA in Theatre Arts and Music from the University of Pennsylvania.





Mandie has worked extensively in theatre, film and TV in both England and the US including The 1st National Tour of Something Rotten!, Horrible Histories for the BBC and various commercial work for brands such as Braun, Refinery 29 and iShares. She is co-founder and Artistic Director of UptownWorks NYC, and through that exercises her choreographic and directing skills frequently. 

Mandie loves to teach as an opportunity to pass on the skills and love for the arts, helping students to discover how much they are capable of when they use their creativity.  

Cadence Owensby


Assistant Studio Manager

Cadence Owensby performs in shows and cabarets across the country and New York City. Most recently, she has performed cabarets at The Triad Stage and 54Below. 


Additionally, she has been performing professionally for the past 13 years in shows such as Peter Pan (Wendy), West Side Story (Anybodys), and High School Musical (Martha Cox.)


One of her greatest joys is sharing the love of theatre with children of all ages. From Theatre Bugs to Stage Stars and beyond, she loves to watch as her students blossom into actors.

Kimmy Dunn is a New York City based actor and improviser hailing from the small town of Aiken, SC. She is a proud graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and a current student at The Upright Citizens Brigade.  While in school, she fell in love with physical comedy and devised theater. Over the past two years she has followed that passion and performed professionally in shows such as The Lacy Project (Harriet), Top Rung (Nat), and The Three Musketeers (Sabine).  

As a strong believer in education through action, Kimmy is elated to be joining The Stage Theater School and encouraging young artists to follow their dreams.




Kathleen Meyer is a New York City-based, dancer, singer, actor with a passion for teaching. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Kathleen moved to New York 4 years ago to attend the Joffrey Ballet School as a ballet trainee. Since then, she has changed her focus to musical theatre and has performed in shows at various different regional theaters. Her more recent credits include “Christmas at the Palace” at the Palace Theater in the Dells, the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Saturday Night Live, Orange is the New Black, among other titles. Kathleen is thrilled to be joining the Stage Theater School staff this year and share her love of theatre and dance!

Ilana Gabriella is a Pace University School of Performing Arts grad with a BFA in Commercial Dance. During her career thus far, Ilana has had the pleasure of performing works by various choreographers including Chloe Arnold, Jason Samuel Smith, Liana Blackburn and more.


As a teacher Ilana loves being able to facilitate a child's exploration of dance and theater. She has taught a range of class styles/ages and finds joy teaching each and every one.
